Most people probably have some version of Adobe Reader on their machines that is not the latest one. Take a moment to check which version you are running. How it can be done is explained below including the update.

Another way to reduce your risk exposure against vulnerability exploits is to use another reader than Adobe Acrobat (i.e. since the latter is used most widely, of course, hacker exploits will most likely take advantage of vulnerabilities found in this software compared to others - biggest effect for hacker).
Naturally, if you prefer other programs to Adobe that work as nicely and are less likely to suffer from a hacker exploit simply because they are less widely used you can find here:
- instead of Adobe Acrobat use FREEPDF - for creating pdf files
- instead of Adobe Reader use Foxit Reader - fast and easy use for reding pdf files
